A vital belt is a medical apparatus for continuous monitoring of the heart rate at home. It consists of two parts including the belt and the measuring instrument which can be joint together using few standard 4mm connectors. The current vital belt is capable of acquiring ECG signal with optional RESP signal in later development. Body temperature as well as SpO2 are two other possible vital can be obtained from the belt for further precision measurement.

It is aimed for the home care applications which target senior citizen as well as infant and toddler. ECG signal can be obtained without skin preparation. The irritation to the subject's skin can be reduced to minimum. The ECG amplifier and analog to digital converter as well as RF transmitter will be housed in an apparatus with four mating ECG connectors on the back. The two pieces design allows the belt and amp to be combined in different applications including clinical practices.

The acquired ECG signal is transmitted via RF link to the wireless RS-232 receiver for signal monitoring, processing and storage.
